DECLARATION OF REMEMBRANCE

We, the undersigned, declare that our national hero, Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone, USMC, representing all the courageous men and women who fought, suffered and died for our freedom, shall not be forgotten. We further resolve that a permanent and complete record of Sgt. Basilone's extraordinary valor should be created and preserved in the Library of Congress as a testament to the highest ideals of our citizens in service to our country. We hereby rededicate ourselves to the principles enshrined in our national Declaration of Independence, our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. It is for these principles and for the brave men and women who pay the ultimate price for these principles that we make this Declaration of Remembrance.
